What Is a Software Activation?
A software activation is a license or permission that allows software to work fully.
It verifies that the software is genuine and confirms that the user is allowed to access certain features, updates, or professional tools. Many mobile servicing tools such as Z3X, Octopus, and Chimera use software activations to control access to their functions.
Hardware-Based Software Activation (Box or Dongle Required)
This type of activation works only when a physical device (such as a box or USB dongle) is connected to the computer.
The hardware acts as a security key, and the software will not run without it.
Digital Software Activation (No Hardware Required)
This activation is fully online and linked to an account, serial number, or license key.
No physical device is needed; access is granted through server verification instead.
